Go Take a Nap Already!

I admit it, eating healthier makes me feel that I have absolutely no freedom. Sometimes I want a soda, pasta sounds good, etc. I have an overactive guilt complex, so even allowing myself soda in moderation, I feel very guilty! How do you overcome this? How do you feel free instead of bound?
Reading through a lot of the healthy eating cookbooks and how-to books, I feel so discouraged. I hate fish! That isn't even strong enough. No matter what sea food I eat, it hits my stomach and comes back. Then it turns into vomiting bile. Needless to say, fish is out. Add to that, I'm not overly fond of fowl. I grew up listening to my grandfather say, "Fowl is foul." If I'm honesty with myself, I don't mind chicken. My problem, I am very, very picky about my meat. Any visible veins, grizzle, etc., I cannot eat it. If I find them AFTER it is cooked, I cannot continue eating it. I know fowl is a lot leaner than red meat, but it's just too damn obvious. I don't like cutting fat off my meat. I hate seeing it, cutting it, you name it. Seriously, I cannot even touch raw meat!! Needless to say, I cook with gloves on and stick to 93% lean hamburger. And I love red meat . . . I cannot completely give it up and go vegetarian. And cheese!! I love cheese!! Extra sharp cheddar!! Yummy! :-9
Anyways, lol, this is kind of a rambling post. I guess, what do people think of the 17 day diet plan? How do you keep yourself from feeling trapped inside a diet? How to you work around your weird food likes/dislikes?

It's been awhile. The internet really hasn't held any interest lately. I've been primarily working on cleaning my house, filling out job applications, and reading. LoL, I got through about 3-4 books in about 2 weeks! Yes, I am that nerdy!
I am still pounding away at the gym. It has been a little hard coming back after being so sick, but I've been able to rise to the challenge. My food intake kind of spiraled out of control after being so sick. I know I need to get back to eating correctly, but $$$ might not allow that. Since I don't have a job, $$$ has gotten really, really tight. We relied too much on a credit card to bail us out every month, and now we've maxed it. I feel so ashamed to even admit it, but it's the truth. *sigh* We might have to return to a diet of boxed macaroni. I'm hoping that we can actually sit down and start making a budget again. Hopefully things won't look quite so bleak.
In less serious news, I got called in for a job interview!!! I applied to work as a custodian at WyoTech, and I got a call back this morning! It is fully benefited and full-time. I've worked as a custodian before, so it isn't new territory. The draw back is the hours are 10pm - 6am. I've never worked a night shift. I figure I can sleep while hubby is at work and spend the evening w/ him before I head in at 10pm. *shrug* I don't know. Either way, I'm seriously thinking about taking the job on the spot -- if they want me that is. It pays nice and the benefits will cut some of our expenses and cover the $500+/mo payment on my student loans.
Angel and my brother have been here all weekend. Angel came to celebrate her birthday with us, so my brother drove up from Colorado. It was a lot of fun. My brother decided to leave around 11:30 last night. It looked as though it was going to start raining/snowing, so we wanted to go over the pass on 80 before anything hit. I guess he hit a bad patch for about 10 minutes. Aside from that, the drive was uneventful. Angel is leaving this afternoon. We're planning on heading out and renting a new Batman cartoon and chilling before she leaves. It was a freaking awesome weekend, but I'm glad to start back into normal life.

No exercise today. Last night my stomach was pretty upset and I was clutching the toilet for awhile I was finally able to make it to bed nursing a 7Up. Hubby had to bring me a pan in case I couldn't make it to the bathroom. I curled up on my side fearful that I wouldn't sleep. Exercise didn't seem like the smartest idea, so I told myself I would be lax today. After sleeping in until nearly noon, I go out of bed feeling a lot better. I'm not sure what caused it, but I'm happy it didn't stick around!
I made something called Cowboy Stew last night. It calls for some bacon, so, in order to make it healthier, I subbed turkey bacon. Thoughts: NEVER AGAIN! Since I don't eat bacon often (maybe once every 2mo), I say give me the damn pig! Oh my goodness, that stuff is nasty! My hubby talked me into trying it this afternoon (I refused to eat it with the mean - It was a garnish). I did. I ran into the family room to eat one of his wasabi almonds. It was the only thing strong enough to clear my palette. *shudder*
I'm heading back to the gym tomorrow. Time to finish a week of shredding the elliptical for 20min.

LoL, we're actually getting our asses out of bed and heading to church ^_~ But I want to keep our Sunday ritual: When we get up for church, we grab bagels and coffee. Really, doing it once a week --if that -- shouldn't screw everything up. It's not like I eat it all the time :P I'm still trying to get used to finding a balance and not feeling guilty. I try to remind myself that I'm doing this to improve my physical health, not as a punishment. If I lose weight, I lose weight,. If not, *shrug*

Ink
Angel and I went up to Riverton to place her mother's grave stone. We sat around with the women folk and watched the men sweat and get dirty. It was fun just shooting the breeze with her family and friends. We had awesome tattoo conversation, which ended in a tattoo show-and-tell :)
After everything was said and done, her family and I had dinner at the local Italian restaurant. Those were some of the best calzones I have ever eaten. Yum! I had leftovers for breakfast and now my acid is flaring up again :(
We were planning on getting my chest piece done, but I never got a hold of the shop yesterday. The soonest they can get me in is Saturday @ 4pm. I really want Angel to come, but she has to head back to work tomorrow. But my hubby has never been with me to get ink, so it will be an interesting experience. I'm thinking that the spicy-ness (aka pain) might be a bit more than my full shoulder tattoo. Meh, I sat for my shoulder for 2.5hrs, so I can handle the chest piece. I'll post pictures when I get it done.
Off to forage for food.
